zf / Command line

Zerofinger, from your terminal.

Find mail. Add a skill. Put your Agent to work. Use the same accounts and conversations you already have in the app.

Mac app 2.13.0+ · Apple Silicon · macOS 13.3+ · No separate runtime to install

Start here

One setup, inside the app.

  1. 1

    Install the command

Open Zerofinger → Settings → App → Command line. Choose Install command. It uses the CLI bundled with that app and keeps your shell settings untouched.

  2. 2

Allow the account you want to use

Choose Allow account access and review the request in the app. Local tools can then read mail, configure skills and connections, and start Agent work for that account. Revoke access in the same place.

  3. 3

    Check, then choose your account

Copy the verification command shown in the app. If ~/.local/bin is already on your PATH, run:

    Terminal
    zf doctor
    Terminal
    zf account list

Use zf account use <id> to set a default, or add --account <id> to a command. The selected inbox tab never changes a command’s account.

Start with a useful job.

Mail reads are deterministic. Agent work stays visible in Zerofinger, with its existing review requirements.

Find an email

Read results directly, without a model or a mark-as-read change.

Terminal
zf mail search "from:[email protected]" --limit 10 --json

Delegate work

The same Agent keeps a conversation in the app. Follow its ID; open the app for required review.

Terminal
zf agent run "Summarize my unread mail" --json

Add a skill

Install a folder containing SKILL.md. Setup scripts are never run during installation.

Terminal
zf skill add ./weekly-review

Connect a tool

Replace the example URL with your server, then run zf mcp auth example or zf mcp enable example.

Terminal
zf mcp add example --url https://mcp.example.com/mcp

Reuse a workflow

Inspect a saved workflow, then use zf workflow run <id> to prepare its review.

Terminal
zf workflow list --json

Update together

Check first. zf update installs the signed app and its bundled CLI together.

Terminal
zf update --check

For scripts and local assistants

Use --json for structured results, zf schema to discover arguments, and zf agent follow <id> --jsonl to follow a conversation. A request accepted by the Agent is not yet a completed task. Required review stays in the app.

Skills installed with zf skill add run inside Zerofinger. The Zerofinger skill for other assistants teaches an outside assistant to use the CLI. Install it yourself in the assistant you choose. Cloud-only assistants cannot reach this local app through zf.

If setup needs attention

“Command not found”
Use the full command copied from App settings. Add ~/.local/bin to your terminal’s PATH if you want the short zf command.
Account access or connection is missing
Open the selected Zerofinger app and run zf auth login. Enable the intended account in App settings, then check zf doctor.
A task needs review or has an uncertain outcome
Use zf agent open <id> to inspect the exact conversation. Keep the operation ID after a timeout and inspect its receipt with zf status --operation <id> before retrying.
